Third try with acrylic on canvas!

I had alot of fun on this one. I focused more on color composition on this work. I feel like I'm too attached to black and white traditional pieces, so I need to work harder on my weaknesses.

Reading more about art theory, I discovered that colors can *gasp* evoke different emotions in people. I usually draw in muted or graphite, so I wanted to change it and instead use vibrant pigments. I wanted to convey happiness through the light, I'm not sure if it worked, since I'm still not familiar with controlling the paints. T__T

Anyway, quick photo that also shows my crummy workspace. (I bought this easel from meijers for like 8 bucks. ) OTL

3 hours, acrylic on canvas

Crummy workspace?! It's so neat and orderly!

Now when I first peeked at this I thought it was a painting of the painting and workspace around it. Can't see enough of your actual piece to comment genuinely on it BUT it looks to me like you have a good grasp on how to handle acrylics-- to create that in just three hours is pretty special in my opinion. I'm a novice in the painting department however I think it's safe to say that I'm more or less an oils girl. I like the freedom.
I encourage you to paint this scene sometime, perhaps, the actual photograph itself-- reminds me of something from early impressionism. I'd love to see what you could do with it!

lovely stuff, keep at it.

Thanks! I have a question though about paints:

You personally prefer oils; what kind of properties do oils have that acrylics don't offer (like texture/spread/etc)? Haha, I'm a noob, so the only thing I know about oils is that they apparently take forever to dry, and that they are expensive because they don't come it 99 cent jars in meijers like acrylics do.

You're welcome ^^

i think the way you made that tree glow makes it stand out as significant. It's a very beautiful piece! I just think you could have done a little more detail with the grass and the animal's shadow.
